November is National Adoption Month!

So I'm a little late in my post about National Adoption Month, but better late than never, right?! Today, November 8, 2009, is Orphan Sunday. On the website www.orphansunday.org it states that "On Orphan Sunday, Christians stand for the orphan. We are a people called to defend the fatherless…to care for the child that has no family…to visit orphans in their distress." The whole month of November is National Adoption Month but today is the day that churches and groups all over the world are focusing on God's love for orphans and calling for Christian families to rise up and answer the call to "Defend the cause of the fatherless" -Isaiah 1:17.

I realized this morning that it was about this time last year that we were really starting to research and look into adoption, feeling God's call, but not knowing where to start. About a month after finding out that our last attempt at IVF did not work, we were so glad to have that chapter in our lives closed and another one opening...and opening fast, I might add!!! Georgia Claire was not an "orphan" when we adopted her, but Shelby & I did (and still do) feel a call to adopt. We look forward to what God has in store for our little family. We definitely want to adopt again and have NO idea what that adoption will look like. Will it be another open adoption building a relationship with another birth mother and her family? Will it be us travelling overseas to an orphanage for an international adoption? Will it be a foster child right here in our small town that needs us as his/her parents? We don't know, but what we DO know is that God is in control of growing our family and we cannot wait to see how He moves next.

Here are some random, but sweet pictures from the weekend of our little adoption miracle that I wanted to share. Going to church this morning...
Emailing with Momma...Happy girl waking up from her nap...
Hanging out in her bed after nap...one leg hiked up on the bumper pad and just "talking" and squealing when I came into her room...
Coming home from church after having a melt-down getting into the car seat! She is so good but when she is tired her car seat is the last place she wants to go!
And asleep five minutes later...
We love you Georgia Claire! =)
